Stéphanie Guerzoni

Vienne, 1887 — 1970

Born in Vienna in 1887, Stéphanie Caroline Jeanne Guerzoni (15.4.1887, Vienna - 27.3.1970, Geneva) was a student of Ferdinand Hodler from 1915 to 1918. The influence of the great master is evident in the symbolist style adapted by Guerzoni in the 1920s. In her late work, she mainly painted portraits, Italian landscapes, and frescoes. In 1957 the artist wrote a monograph on Hodler, which was published in 1959 by Rascher Verlag in Stuttgart under the title "Ferdinand Hodler als Mensch, Maler und Lehrer".
